Let Us Introduce Ourselves
Dave & Sherilyn Woodhouse (Owners)
Dave started CrossFit at Hermes in 2012 to get in shape for a two-week backpack hunt in Canada. Not only was Dave in the best shape of his life, but he also fell in love with the CrossFit community; in other words, he drank the CrossFit Kool-Aid! In 2015, when the gym came up for sale, Dave knew he wanted to buy it and have it be a part of our lives. Sher was not sold! However, she could see the benefits and changes in Dave’s overall health and wellness and got on board. A little bit about us; we are parents of 5 exceptional children, some of who you may see at the gym from time to time. We love the outdoors, hunting, camping, and traveling. Dave is also the owner of W.W. Construction, a commercial concrete company. Sherilyn is a school facilitator at Riverview Elementary for Nebo School District. We are busy and rely on our gym manager and coaches to make this gym what it is. Without their hard work and dedication, we could not be gym owners. A big shout out and thank you to them! Our goal for the gym is for everyone to feel welcome, safe, and at home. We strive to provide the highest quality of coaching through these three key elements: inspiration, instruction, and Interaction. We want all members to feel stronger and healthier and see improvements. We are here to help motivate and teach people the true love of Crossfit, the Hermes way!
Brooke Strait (Gym Manager)
CrossFit has changed my life. It has transformed my mind as well as my body and taught me that I am capable of anything I set my mind to! CrossFit has been a part of my life now for over 10 years. It helped me lose 75 pounds and have become stronger than ever! Because CrossFit has taught me so much, I hope to help others the same way all the people in the CrossFit community have helped me achieve my goals.
Crossfit is everything I never knew I needed! I grew up playing literally every sport living all over the country, and then in England. I focused primarily on soccer and rugby at the traditional England school I attended. I then moved on to play and ref soccer competitively as well as play rugby at BYU. After observing CrossFit from afar I first thought... wow... now THOSE are some athletes. Then... I bought some Nike Metcons.... then.. a Whoop wristband... then... I walked into a CrossFit gym totally alone in Cincinnati Ohio 1.5 years ago and haven't looked back! CrossFit is the best thing that can happen to anyone’s life, if you commit to it, your entire life will transform and I love being a part of that process!
I first started CrossFit in 2011 and started going to an affiliate in 2012. Before that, I tried the conventional gym for a couple of years, but I never felt truly challenged and I was outright bored. I started training for the Marine Corps and found I thrived in high-intensity type workouts. I loved the challenge and the results it brought. Soon after that, my brother told me I would probably like this thing called CrossFit since I seemed to like to suffer. From there it’s all history and I have loved my journey. I’ve had many ups and downs, consistent and non-consistent. Before I went on active duty in the Marine Corps, I had the privilege to coach here at Hermes from 2013-2014. I loved teaching others what I had learned and seeing them progress to meet their goals! Now that I am back, I am excited to continue to share my experiences of success and failures to help and learn from you all!
Levi Neilseon (Weightlifting Coach)
I love coaching weightlifting because I enjoy the challenge of teaching the snatch and clean and jerk. What I love most is the fact that when I teach people in weightlifting I not only teach them to be strong physically and mentally in the gym but I also advise them to use the same mentality for life. I love helping people become the absolute best they can be. The drive for new personal records in and out of the gym. The passion to become the best they can be mentally and physically. The stronger you are physically and mentally the stronger you are everywhere else.
